CLAREMONT, N.H. – Following 150 laps at Claremont Motorsports Park, Doug Coby scored a ninth-place finish in the 10th NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race of the season. Driving the famed No. 7NY for Tommy Baldwin Racing, Coby qualified 17th, but worked his way through the field during the Clash at Claremont to score a top-10 finish. The top-10 effort continued a streak of success for Tommy Baldwin Racing, who continues to lead the Whelen Modified Tour owners championship standings heading down the stretch run of the season. Coby, who had very limited laps at Claremont prior to Friday night, left with the best finish possible given the circumstances. “Track position is critical at tracks like Claremont and we didn’t have a good enough car in qualifying to start up front,” Coby said. “We came from 17th to the back half of the top-10 but couldn’t quite contend for a top-five tonight. I used up the tires pretty good coming through the field and we probably made a couple of final setup decisions for the race that we wish we hadn’t made. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in our effort.” Doug Coby will return to the track at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Wednesday, August 17 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 150.
