LANGLEY, Va. – Doug Coby returned to the seat of the No. 7NY for Tommy Baldwin Racing on Saturday night at Langley Speedway, and rolled it right back into Victory Lane. Coby was fastest in practice, won the Mayhew Tools pole award, and led all 150 laps en route to a dominating victory in what was a dominating day for the entire team in Virginia. In the CheckeredFlag.com 150, Coby had the car to beat. “It means a lot to win here,” Coby said. “Anytime you come to a newer track for all the teams, it’s always nice to get a win. This is all about Tommy, his team and the effort they put in this past week to get the car here. What a rocket ship it has been all season. It’s been a long time since I’ve been the fastest in practice, won the pole and led all the laps.” The victory was the 34th in Coby’s Whelen Modified Tour career, giving him sole possession of fifth on the all-time wins list. Doug Coby will return to the track on Saturday, September 3, competing in the 150-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race as part of Classic weekend at Oswego Speedway in New York. MILFORD, Conn. – For the seventh time this season, six-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby will strap in behind the wheel for Tommy Baldwin Racing this weekend. Coby will compete in the Checkeredflag.com 150 at Langley Speedway on Saturday, August 27, as the Whelen Modified Tour hits the stretch run of the season with Baldwin’s team showing the way in the owner points with just five races to go in the season. In two previous starts at Langley Speedway, Coby has 134 laps led, all coming in his first stop at the track in 2018. In the second run, he DNF’d after an accident. The Milford, Connecticut, native feels confident heading south. “I’m confident it’s a track that Tommy will have a good setup for,” Coby said. “I ran good there the first time we went there and we almost won the race. Tommy’s never been there before, but he has something good going right now and that will keep us fast. It seems like a track position kind of place – if you can qualify good and be up front, you have a better shot at finishing there.” The race day schedule for the Checkeredflag.com 150 includes one practice session from 3-4 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 5:30 p.m. The green flag for the race is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and will air live on FloRacing.TV, for those who can’t make it to the track. THOMPSON, Conn. – Doug Coby returned to NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour racing for the first time this season with his own No. 10 Mayhew Tools team on Thursday night. Competing in the Phoenix Communications 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, Coby qualified inside the top-five and had a race filled with ups and downs, moving throughout the field. After being involved in two separate wrecks, Coby charged through the pack late to get into the top-five, and eventually worked his way to the second spot for the final restart. While Craig Lutz drove to Victory Lane, Coby slid back to third, but completed the night with a solid top-five finish. The day included a top-five effort in practice, Mayhew Tools qualifying and the 150-lap main event. “This is a brand new car and our first Tour race of the season tonight,” Coby said. “Really proud of my guys – especially John, Josh and Alex for putting it together and Mayhew Tools for supporting us. It’s not easy to start Whelen Modified Tour racing in August. Our effort was great and I think we have a fast piece, so I’ll be looking forward to returning to Thompson for the World Series later this season.” For more information on Doug Coby Racing, visit DougCobyRacing.com and follow the team on Facebook for the latest updates. MILFORD, Conn. – For the first time in over one month, Doug Coby will strap in behind the wheel of the Mayhew Tools No. 10 Modified this Wednesday night. Coby will be competing in the Phoenix Communications 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the high-banks for the first time in just under two years on August 17. Coby’s Thompson record speaks for itself – as the six-time Whelen Modified Tour champion has sealed all six of his championships at the Connecticut oval. Overall, in 64 starts at Thompson, Coby has six victories and 25 top-five finishes, leading over 1,300 laps. He’s familiar with the track, has confidence in the car, and is looking to rocket to Victory Lane as a part-time contender on the Tour once again. Coby has six Whelen Modified Tour starts this season, all for Tommy Baldwin Racing, with two wins to his credit. “It’s our first NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race of the season with my own 10 team and we have a brand new car coming out with a fresh motor,” Coby said. “The guys have done a great job getting everything together. We’re excited to be back together on the 10 team and give it a run. The Whelen Modified Tour and Thompson Speedway are synonymous with each other – without a doubt, the Tour should be at Thompson multiple times during the year. The facility is like the home base for the Whelen Modified Tour.” The race day schedule for the Phoenix Communications 150 includes one practice session from 4-5 p.m., followed by Mayhew Tools qualifying at 6:20 p.m. The green flag for the 150-lap event will drop at 8 p.m., live on FloRacing.TV.
