WINCHESTER, N.H. – Six-time NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby scored a fifth-place finish at Monadnock Speedway on Sunday, June 19. Coby, driving the famed 7NY for Tommy Baldwin Racing, ran inside the top-five for the duration of the race. Coby passed Justin Bonsignore and took second spot in the first half of the race, but fell back to the middle of the top-five, where he rode for most of the Duel at the Dog 200. In the end, Coby settled for fifth position. It marked the third straight top-five run for Coby and Tommy Baldwin Racing as a combination, with the first two events ending in Victory Lane. Tommy Baldwin Racing has now finished inside the top-five in the last four Whelen Modified Tour races. “I feel like I’ve done this before running between third and fifth at Monadnock and have a strong car, and then the last 50 or so laps everyone’s setup goes away, but we go away a tick more than the leaders,” Coby said. “What we learned at Riverhead and Lee together really doesn’t translate to this track during the day. It’s tough when you have a tight race car on a greasy track. It was a good day, just not a winning day.” Doug Coby will return to the track next Saturday, June 25, at Riverhead Raceway for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour 200 with Tommy Baldwin Racing. Coby won the first tour stop at Riverhead in May in his first race together with the team in 2022.
